In 2009, Russia exported 16.82 mln tonnes of wheat, an increase of 43.5% compared to the index of 2008 – 11.72 mln tonnes, declared the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation.
In monetary terms, the export volumes decreased by 3.9%, to the level of 2.75 bln USD.
According to experts of the grain market, in the first half of 2008, the country had the acting export duties for wheat at the level of 40% and not lower than 105 EUR/t, which restrained all export supplies of wheat.
At the same time, according to data of the Federal Customs Service, the country decreased grain import trading. Wheat import supplies totaled 94.6 thsd tonnes, down 1.9 times compared to 2008 – 178.7 thsd tonnes. Barley imports reduced to the level of 30.4 thsd tonnes from 131.5 thsd tonnes, maize – to 38 thsd tonnes from 362.3 thsd tonnes.
