In January 2010, inflation in Ukraine totaled 1.9%

In January 2010, inflation in Ukraine totaled 1.9% relating to December 2009, declared the State committee of statistics of Ukraine on February 8.

According to the committee data, prices in the industrial sector grew by 16.3% relating to January 2009, as opposed to the same index at the level of 14.3% at the end of December 2009.

The growth of prices in processing industry totaled 1.3%. Products of the enterprises, producing food products, beverages and tobacco goods, including sugar – up 7.8%, confectionery products – up 4.1%, sunflower oil – 2.9%, flour milling and groats products – 2.2%, showed the largest increase of prices at the index of 2.9%. Prices for cheeses, milk, cultured milk foods and butters grew by 7.2%. Animal fats prices decreased by 1.1%.

As a reminder, in 2009, the growth of prices in the industrial sector lowered to the level of 14.3% against 23% in the previous year. According to the forecast of B.Danilishyn, the Minister of Economics of Ukraine, the inflation in 2010 will total nearly 9.7%.
