According to the official data, during nine months of 2009, Uzbekistan produced over 7 mln tonnes of grains, an increase of 10.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, declared the State committee of statistics of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The general production of spiked cereals grew by 7.9% to the level of 6.8 mln tonnes. Wheat production increased by 6.9% and totaled 6.57 mln tonnes. The general rice production increased by 2.3% – to 117 thsd tonnes.
The growth of grain sowing areas totaled 3.6% – to 1.6 mln tonnes, spiked cereals areas took 1.5 mln ha, up 3.2% compared to the previous year.
