According to USDA, in 2009/10 MY, the export potential of grains from Kazakhstan totals 7.5 mln tonnes, an increase of 25% compared to the previous season. Traditionally, wheat will remain as the main exported grain. In the current marketing year, the country plans to export 7 mln tonnes of the grain as opposed to 5.7 mln tonnes in 2008/09 MY. The growth of grain production by 16% (including the growth of wheat volumes by 20%) causes the same rise of export volumes of grains compared to the previous year.
In the season-2009/10, Iran, Afghanistan, and the countries of the Middle Asia will become the main buyers of Kazakh grains. China also has chances to join to the list of countries-importers due to the fact of the present negotiations of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan with Chinese colleagues.
