In the current year, Belarus does not plan to import maize and wheat of hard varieties, declared Semen Shapiro, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, on November 10.
According to him, Belarus will purchase nearly 5-6 thsd tonnes of wheat only for macaroni production.
To date, the country is able to provide self-supporting production of wheat and maize of hard varieties in order to satisfy own food requirements. Previously, Belarus purchased nearly 1.5 mln tonnes of maize.
