Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan increased the forecast of grain exports

In 2008/09 MY, the export potential of grains of Kazakhstan is estimated at the level of 10 mln tonnes, declared Akylbek Kurishbaev, the Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.

Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture estimated the export potential at the level of 9 mln tonnes.

According to estimations of the Minister, Kazakhstan will export nearly 6-7 mln tonnes of grains top traditional countries-importers of Kazakh grains – Afghanistan, Iran, countries of the Central Asia, the Transcaucasia and the CIS. Also, the country will export 2.5-3 mln tonnes through the ports of the Black, Baltic and Azov Seas.

In the current year, production volumes of grains in bunker weight totaled nearly 23 mln tonnes. Kazakhstan is one of the six largest exporters of grains in the world, and takes the third place in the rate of the wolrd flour producers after the European Union and Turkey.

At the same time, the country has the problem with realization of the new crop grains. Main traders do not hurry with grain purchases and took wait-and-see attitude.
