As of November 9, agricultural organizations of Belarus harvested maize throughout 76.6 thsd ha, or 57.5% of the planned areas, declared specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus. According to them, high humidity restrain the rates of the harvesting campaign.
Production volumes of maize totaled 502.6 thsd tonnes as opposed to 593.7 thsd tonnes on the same date of the previous year. Maize yield totaled 65.6 c/ha (in 2008 – 61.7 c/ha). According to forecasts of the Ministry, maize production volumes in Belarus will total nearly 750-760 thsd tonnes.
