As of October 1, 2009, Russian agricultural economies of all varieties – agricultural enterprises, farmers and economies of the population – produced 90.1 mln tonnes of grains in bunker weight, down 14% compared to the same date of the previous year, declared the Federal service of state statistics (Rosstat) on October 16.
Agricultural enterprises, which cultivate 75% of grain harvesting areas, harvested grains throughout 78.8% of the sowings (in 2008 – 89.5%). Taking into account summer losses of the sowings and usage of some sowings to feed aims, agrarians still had to harvest 4.8 mln ha of grains (without maize) – 13.9% of sowing areas.
Agrarians harvested sunflower throughout 36.3% of the planned sowings (last year – 35.5%, fibre flax – throughout 83.4% (78.9%).
As of the beginning of October, agricultural organizations sowed winter grains for the harvest-2010 throughout the areas of 10.5 mln ha, up 14.4% compared to the previous year sowings.
During the summer period of the current year, the large-scale areas of grain sowings perished. As of October 1, the index of perished grain sowings in agricultural organizations totaled 2127 thsd ha as opposed to 618 thsd ha on the same date of the previous year.
