Kazakhstan: Aktobe and West Kazakhstan oblasts show the highest share of grain sowings in bad condition

The share of grain sowings in bad condition became especially high in Aktobe and West Kazakhstan oblasts of Kazakhstan, declared Anna Butz, the director of the department of agriculture and phytosanitary security of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on July 9.

To date, the country has 47% of agriculture sowings in good condition and 49% of sowings in satisfactory condition, an increase of 2% compared to the previous year indices, mentioned A.Butz.

Aktobe oblast (124.7 thsd ha or 16%) and West Kazakhstan oblast (337 thsd ha - nearly half of grain sowings, 213 thsd ha suffered from strong draughts) has the highest share of damaged sowings, marked the head of the department.

According to A.Butz, the current year provided rather favorable conditions for moisture security in all regions during spring sowing campaign, and the presence of agricultural crops in bad condition in several oblasts witnesses about inobservance of cultivation technologies and optimum sowing terms.

Besides, southern and eastern regions will provide good harvests, marked the director of the department. Southern oblasts started the harvesting campaign, winter wheat average yield totaled 19 c/ha, an increase of 2 times compared to the previous year, mentioned A.Butz.
