Kazakhstan: Food Contract Corporation to increase Aktau port grain capacities to 1.5 mln tons

To date, Food Contract Corporation of Kazakhstan works out the plans for widening of the annual estimated capacities of the grain terminal, located in Aktau port, to 1.5 mln tons of grains from the current 600 thsd tons, declared Abelgazi Kusainov, the Minister of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to him, the one-time storing volume of the terminal totals 25 thsd tons.

During January-March, grain shipment through Aktau totaled 58.000 tons as opposed to 42.000 tons in the first quarter of 2008, the Minister said. In 2008, grain shipment through Aktau totaled 266.000 tons as opposed to 2007.
