Devaluation of tenge makes beneficial effect for the growth of competitiveness of Kazakh products

The devaluation of tenge in Kazakhstan has already made beneficial effect for the growth of competitiveness of the domestic products at the price level, declared Akhylbek Kurishbaev, the Minister of Agriculture.

According to the Ministry, the government provides the permanent monitoring of the domestic market and corrects the rates of import customs duties, increases the protection of the inner market from unfair imports.

According to the Agency of Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in January 2009 the country produced the products of agricultural raw material processing at the sum of 44.2 bln tenge (294.37 mln USD), a decrease of 2.3% compared to the same period of 2008.

The growth of the cheap import volumes due to the happened devaluation of the national currencies in the near abroad countries (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus), overstocking of the domestic market, problems with the presence of circulating assets, the decrease of crediting volumes, the decrease of purchasing capacity became the main reasons of the reduction of production volumes.

According to A.Kurishbaev, to date Kazakhstan created all corresponding terms for preservation and raising of the existing rates of the food industry.

According to the head of the Ministry, the authorities should support processing enterprises in the direct supplies of commodity and material resources, energy carriers and widening of trade markets, and non-admission of the decrease of spring sowing areas for crop 2009.

As a reminder, according to the preliminary data, the sowing areas in 2009 should total 17.8 mln ha, including 16 mln ha of grains and legumes, 13.3 mln ha of spring wheat, 0.8 mln ha of oilseeds.
