Kazakhstan has special interest in using of Latvian transport potential as transit passage with developed port, railway and road-transport infrastructure, declared Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, during negotiations with Valdis Zatlers, the President of Latvia.
The parties came to an agreement to continue organization of railway container traffic through the transit passage China-Kazakhstan-Russia-Baltic and developing of container route "Baltic transit" – Rezekne-Almaty. Also, parties have common Kazakh-Latvian grain terminal in Ventspils port.
According to N.Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan plans to export 5-5.5 mln tonnes of grain compared to 9 mln tonnes in the previous year.
