As of August 25, 2008, 3-grade wheat purchasing prices have begun to rise. The average purchase price for 3-grade wheat totaled 277.11 USD/t, according to the Union of Millers and Bakers of Kazakhstan.
At the same time, the market continues to be buffered by unstable prices. Wheat prices in the north of Kazakhstan were 205 USD/t while, in the east, rose to 317-334 USD/t. At the same time, prices in the western and central regions totaled 250 USD/t. South Kazakhstan, due to transport costs, has prices at level of 290-317 USD/t.
