By 2012 Kazakhstan plans to increase annual grain production to 26 mln tonnes

By 2012 Kazakhstan plans to increase annual grain production to 26 mln tonnes, including wheat production - to 19.8 mln tonnes. At that, Kazakhstan first of all plans to increase production of 3-grade wheat, which share in the total grain production is planned to be increased from 70 to 80%, reported Anna Buts, Director of Department of Planting and Phyto-sanitary Security of Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan at the Conference "Grain Forum-2008".

She noted that currently potential of grain production industry is used only on 65-70%. The ways of its increase in Kazakhstan they see in expanding of the sowing areas under grain crops and introducing progressive technologies of agriculture.

At that, Government of Kazakhstan plans to develop mechanisms of financial support of agrarians, in particular, purchase of quality seeds material, crop protective agents as well as leasing of the highly productive agricultural technique.

As for wheat export prospects from Kazakhstan, A. Buts noted that it totals not less than 16 mln tonnes per year.

At that, introduction of the export restrictions will be conducted only in the case of considerable exceeding of the planned export volumes, reported she.
