At the end of November 2007, the terminal on biodiesel treatment began operating on the territory of Klaipeda port. The stevedoring company Vakaru krova (VK) will conduct the operator functions on this terminal.
The infrastructure of biodiesel complex allows storing up to 4.000 m? of products. During the first year, they plan to trans-ship about 70.000 tonnes of methyl ether, after that the capacities of the terminal would be increased. Investments to the project totaled 2.3 mln euro.
Mestilla company also participated in the project. The company constructs on the territory of exclusive economic zone of Klaipeda the biofuel plant based on rapeseed oil. About 30% of produced biodiesel would be sold on the domestic market. The remaining part would be exported to EU countries.
