Ukraine harvested over 28 mln tonnes of grain

According to Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, Yuriy Melnik, as for the middle of October Ukraine harvested over 28 mln tonnes of grain (in weight before working out).

At that, he added that agrarians mostly finished the harvesting of late grain crops.

According to Melnik, the balance sheet of grain for the current season shows that Ukraine would completely satisfy its needs.

At that, Melnik informed that as for October 16, the agrarian enterprises sowed 7.1 mln ha under the winter crops, including about 6 mln ha under wheat.

According to the preliminary information, the grain harvest in 2007 in Ukraine is expected at the level of 29-30 mln tonnes (in clean weight) against 34.3 mln tonnes last year. The needs of Ukraine are estimated at 27 mln tonnes per year.
