It is obvious that the new marketing years will be not simple for the world grain market. After breath-taking rise in prices in 2007/08 MY market participants meet the challenges of the season-2008/09: rich grain harvest, exceeding logistics resources, heterogeneous grain quality, as well as world financial crisis which influence is very difficult to be estimated.
Thus, according to the last USDA estimations, total production of wheat in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan in 2008/09 MY will reach 97.2 mln tonnes, or 14.3% from total world production of this crop. At the same time, price situation on the grain market in the Black sea region has been developing unambiguously - prices for grain are decreasing and prices for resources continue increasing as well as agricultural producers estimate prospects of production in the next season with much intensity.
Exactly such difficult and ambiguous conditions demand unity from the Black sea market. The unity of positions, opinions, strategies, common understanding of taking place processes and active coordinated response.
We suppose that such season is a moment of departure from situational decisions and orientation toward thoughtful and market understanding. That is why, we consider as basically important holding in Russia a large international event which is called on consolidating opinions and interests of the participants of the Black sea grain market.
The organizers of the second international conference "Grain of Russia - 2008" will be Russian Grain Union and IA APK-Inform. Successful experience of holding the first event which took place in Rostov-on-Don in September, last year, showed relevance of major event on grain subject in the largest grain producing region of Russia - South Federal District. The key segment of the target audience of the conference are agricultural producers which have become direct participants of grain trade on the domestic as well as export market.
Besides, we plan to attend general, strategic issues of grain market functioning in the existent conditions as well as illustrate the most tactical aspects of grain production and trade in 2008/09 MY.
