The last 2007/08 MY observed drastic changes in the structure of distribution of grain and by-products in Ukraine as well as in other countries of the world.
Grain export quotation in Ukraine during ten months led to increase of flour production volumes as well as its export increase (in 2007 flour export from Ukraine increased by almost 6 times (!) as compared to 2006); bran export increased by quarter; against general decrease of groats production, their export to the contrary increased; increase of the domestic production and consumption of mixed fodder continued.
The analogous situation was observed not only in Ukraine, but also in Russia, where due to grain export restrictions the share of grain milling products export increased.
Kazakhstan became a leader in flour export due to shipments of almost 1.5 mln tonnes in 2007 and potential plans to increase flour export to 2-2.5 mln tonnes till 2012.
The gradual recovery of stock-raising sector as well as growth of the global livestock products consumption are important factors of development of grain milling branches of the CIS-countries' industry.
Increasing competition among grain traders as well as thriving biofuel industry are not less relevant themes for grain millers.
At that, along with actual themes, connected with development of the domestic and foreign markets of grain milling products, the questions of technical re-equipment of the enterprises, technological process development, diversification of products, adaptation of the regulatory system to the world standards etc. remain important.
